Our Nursery
Little Pips Nursery, a state-of-the-art Early Years education facility, will open its doors in September 2025 on the grounds of Pocklington School. Little Pips Nursery was born from a vision to provide truly exceptional Early Years education.Backed by the expertise and resources of Pocklington School, the nursery will offer a nurturing haven where children aged 0 to four years can thrive. What sets Little Pips apart is its comprehensive offering, the nursery combines the expertise of highly qualified and passionate educators, inspired by the Reggio Emilio approach, with access to our art studio, Forest School and the use of 32 acres of outdoor space creating a truly holistic approach to early years care and education.
The Role
We focus on fostering the well-being, development and independence of each child, and we believe that high-quality nutrition plays a critical role in supporting their growth.
The Nursery Chef will plan and prepare healthy and nutritious meals for the children and staff. You will need to have a strong understanding of weaning stages and children's evolving dietary needs and will collaborate closely with the Head of Hospitality and Catering and the Pocklington School Foundation kitchen team to maximise resources, maintain ingredient lists, manage costings and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
You’ll be part of a dedicated and caring team that values nutrition and well-being as part of early childhood education and will make a real difference in the lives of young children by contributing to a nurturing, innovative, and child-centred educational experience.
You’ll work 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday), all year round.

You’ll play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of a setting that celebrates creativity, individuality, and collaboration.Together you will make a significant impact on the future of early childhood education within a forward-thinking, Reggio Emilia-inspired nursery.
What you’ll receive- Competitive Salary of £25,097 per annum (£13.79 per hour)

You will have:
- Experience in preparing meals for children, particularly in an early years setting
- Creative flair and a genuine passion for using locally sourced, fresh and seasonal produce
- A good understanding of nutrition and dietary needs at different developmental stages, including weaning.
- Knowledge of health and safety, food hygiene and kitchen management standards ideally with Level 2 Allergen Awareness certification and Food Safety Level 2 qualification
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage stock and budgets efficiently
