Weldsafe Limited, based in Scotstoun, Glasgow, is looking for a motivated, flexible Stock, Internal Sales & Purchasing Assistant to join our dynamic team and contribute to our continued success of 42 years.

Weldsafe supplies welding machines, equipment, welding and cutting consumables, electrical products and PPE alongside a busy service engineering department.

Our customers are across a broad range of industries, including fabrication, engineering, energy, shipbuilding, manufacturing, construction, agriculture and motor vehicle repair.

The job: This role will support the sales & purchasing team in providing exceptional service to our customers.
The role is very varied. You will have 3 main areas of work:
  1. Warehouse. This will include:
  • Receiving deliveries, booking in on our sales/purchasing system (SAGE 50 Accounting Software)
  • Despatching goods, preparing shipments for our transport/couriers/customers
  • Undertaking regular stock checks
  • Controlling warehouse, showroom and yard, keeping them safe, organised, tidy and clean
  1. Sales. This will include:
  • Serving customers purchasing goods in store
  • Answering customer telephone and email enquiries in a busy sales office
  1. Purchasing. This will include:
  • Ordering goods to replenish stock.
  • Sourcing items for customers.
In a small company, the work is varied and at times there may be other duties that might be reasonably expected. It would be a bonus if you could occasionally drive the delivery van when our driver is absent.

Note this is a physical job when dealing with stock.

Ideal candidate:
  • Forklift truck licence holder preferable
  • Previous stores/stock control experience using a stock control system/software
  • Computer skills
  • Basic literacy and numeracy
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Organised, trustworthy and self-motivated
  • Good communication skills
  • Good time keeping
  • Driving licence holder essential and willingness to drive delivery van
  • Positive attitude
  • Right to work in UK
  • Industry knowledge desirable
Working pattern 0830-1700 Monday-Thursday, 0830-1600 Friday.

Contract initially offered for 12 months, with the aim of permanency following a successful 12 months in the role.

Job Types: Full-time, Temp to perm
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: £27,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
