Job overview

Lunesdale District Nurses to cover Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale and surrounding areas. The community care group has an exciting opportunity to recruit to a permanent 30 hours community staff nurse band 5 position starting as soon as possible.

We would like an enthusiastic and highly motivated band 5 Community Nurse who will be happy to work in an evolving district nursing service. The successful applicant will be committed to working closely with health and social care colleagues to provide high quality care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions in the community setting.

Main duties of the job

The role requires excellent communication skills as you will be undertaking complex nursing assessments and developing and delivering programmes of care for patients and carers. The district nurses work a 24hr service and there is an expectation that you may be required to support this to ensure service delivery.

You will need to work collaboratively with other professionals, voluntary sector and informal carers to promote excellent care to patients in their own homes and community setting.

You will be joining an enthusiastic and motivated team who are friendly and approachable. We are very patient focused and staff development is high on our agenda. As part of our team we want to develop all staff to the highest standard.

You will need a full UK drivers licence and access to a car in order to fulfil this role.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
