Senior Staff Nurse - Haematology Ward

West Ward at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust has a full time vacancy for a band 6 senior staff nurse. West Ward is a Haematology Day Unit open Monday to Friday 0830-1700 hrs offering a comprehensive range of treatments, procedures and monitoring interventions to Haematology patients.

We are looking for a hardworking, motivated nurse with at least 1 year post registration experience and chemotherapy competent to join our friendly team at an exciting time of service development and expansion. The successful candidate will have the support and opportunity to further develop their clinical skills.

There is also an opportunity for a 12 month secondment cover. Please note this is restricted to internal applicants.

Main duties of the job
  • Safe administration of medication via different routes.
  • Team working.
  • Patient safety.
  • Chemotherapy administration
  • Clinical skills trained.
  • Patient assessment .
  • To provide efficient, effective and evidence-based nursing care to patients on West Day Bed unit.
  • To be competent in the recognition of life threatening/reactions and act appropriately.

Essential criteria
  • At least 6 months experience from newly qualified
  • NMC registered
  • Chemotherapy competent

Experience

  • Working in Acute medicine for 6+ months
  • Being able to work as part of a small team
