Band 6 – level 2 Social Worker – Stafford

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time level 2, experienced social worker in the Stafford adult social care team.

The position is within the older persons with physical disability team which is a community-based team working with Adults over 18 years of age with a range of physical and Mental health needs. This is a dynamic post that requires the post holder to work closely with multi-disciplinary teams/agencies in addressing a range of care/support issues in the promotion of independence and improving the health and wellbeing of the population served.

Main duties of the job

As a level 2 social worker, you will hold at least 2 years post qualifying experience. You will have responsibility for your own case load and will work on a range of cases involving assessment, support planning, mental capacity Act assessments, appointeeships and deputyship referrals.

Section 117 reviews and safeguarding enquiries as well as complex case management. There is opportunity to manage your own workload and diary and you will be offered the opportunity to work in a hybrid way, being based between the office base in Stafford and home working.

The post holder will be expected to access Social care and health records to gather information, therefore it is important for the post holder to be able to use a computer and have an understanding of the importance of good recording. You will require effective communication and written skills and be willing to work as part of a team to promote best outcomes for individuals.

You will be required to be self-motivated and organised in order to manage any competing demands and be provided with all relevant training and support in the role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust is dedicated to ongoing Social Care development and you will have access to the Social Work learning academy in order to promote professional development. You will also receive the support of your team and your line manager who will provide regular supervision both on a formal and informal basis.

Social Work Learning Academy (SWLA)

On appointment, the post holder will be auto-enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA ‘stage’ (i.e. stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker) or 3 (Advanced Social Worker) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration.

The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own Continuous Professional Development.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • Professional Social Work qualification, DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA, MA or Foreign qualification where certified by the Professional Social Work regulatory body
  • Ensuring current registration with the Professional Social Work regulatory body at all times.
  • To hold/to undertake and achieve the status of Approved Mental Health Professional and/or Best Interest Assessor as per the SWLA Career Pathway
  • To undertake and achieve the status of Work Based Supervisor and Practice Educator as per the SWLA Career Pathway
  • Good keyboard / IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email and PowerPoint
  • An ongoing commitment to personal and professional development.
  • A clear understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
Desirable criteria
  • Existing accreditation relating to Practice Educator/Work Based Supervisor

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post-qualification experience of working with adults with needs associated to older age, physical health or mental health needs and their carers
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of social work in other user groups/settings i.e. Children and Families, Learning Disabilities, Older Adults Experience of a development role for service/ facilities
