Hydraulic Design Engineer
Elevation Recruitment Group are looking for a Hydraulic Design Engineer looking to work on major engineering projects across the UK. We’re working on an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to join a leading project team delivering complex, large-scale hydraulic systems from concept through to commissioning.
The Role:You'll play a key role in the design, development, and integration of hydraulic systems on a diverse range of projects. You’ll work collaboratively with internal teams across engineering and project management to ensure that the systems you design are efficient, compliant, and meet customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design bespoke hydraulic systems and components across a variety of applications
- Complete performance simulations and hydraulic calculations to validate design concepts
- Produce and review 3D CAD models and technical drawings for HPUs, manifolds, and pipework systems
- Support sales tender processes by preparing BOMs, cost estimates, and time projections
- Verify and approve designs, schematics, and system layouts created by peers
- Liaise with project stakeholders to ensure seamless integration with electrical/control systems
- Create technical documentation, including testing procedures, O&M manuals, and commissioning plans
- Lead the commissioning and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems on client sites
Experience & Qualifications:
- HNC (or higher) in Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in hydraulic system design
- Proven knowledge of open-loop hydraulic systems (closed-loop experience desirable)
- Strong familiarity with standards such as ISO 4413 and ISO 1219
- Proficient with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD); knowledge of Hydrosym and Mathcad is a bonus
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (UK and potentially overseas)
