Non-Emergency Patient Transport Driver required for a state-of-the-art new NHS facility in Smethwick B66

JT Recruit would like to hear from you, there are several temporary posts available for General Transport Drivers and Non-Emergency Patient Transport Drivers.
As well as driving, you'll lift and help patients in and out of the vehicle. You'll make sure they're safe and comfortable during the journey and arrive on time for their appointment.

You'll need to demonstrate that you are patient, caring and have a calm nature. You'll need to be interested in other people, be able to reassure people who may be nervous and deal with challenging behaviour. You'll also need to be physically fit and have excellent communication skills.

For Non-Emergency Patient Driver roles, you’ll need a clean, valid driving licence, hours Monday – Friday 09.00-17.00hrs, although there may be a requirement to work evenings and weekends.
  1. Carry out required vehicle and equipment checks.
  2. Be prepared to work flexibly to ensure patients are moved in a timely, safe and dignified manner
  3. Work within Contract Specific Quality Standards and ensure a high level of customer care (These standards vary from contract to contract and will be available at your base)
  4. Ensure effective communication with the Control Centre, by telephone or electronic means
  5. Transfer patients using equipment and skills specific to individual needs
  6. Provide effective care to patients, appropriate to their requirements using available equipment.
  7. Transport patients safely and considerately this will include pre-planned and ad-hoc journeys.
  8. Ensure patients have a safe, smooth journey, complying with all relevant traffic legislation and driving with consideration for other road users.
  9. Maintain full and accurate records and reports, including Patient Transport Records, Accident Reports, and Incident Reports etc. These may be both paper and electronic.
  10. Ensure vehicles and equipment are kept in states of cleanliness and readiness.
  11. Undertake required training to maintain acceptable standards and quality of care.

For General Transport Drivers, a valid UK driving licence, no more than 6 points with driving experience within a healthcare or public sector environment. This role is essential to the smooth running of the hospital, ensuring that vital medical supplies, equipment, and patients are transported safely and efficiently

An Enhanced DBS will be required for these posts, and a work checkable history for the last 5 years.
