Smokefree Lancashire has been commissioned to deliver the stop smoking service across Lancashire. With an estimated 131,000 smokers in Lancashire, our goal is to make smoking cessation a priority for everyone. We provide advice and information to people who want to quit smoking and develop personalised plans during one-to-one support sessions.We also offer groupwork sessions, pharmacotherapy and deliver training to our partner agencies.
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Healthcare Assistant to join Smokefree Lancashire, pro-actively assist in the delivery of comprehensive interventions aimed at improving health & wellbeing for service users.
The Healthcare assistant role is a varied one, the successful candidate must have an understanding of human behaviour in relation to smoking. Be able to carry out assessments and deliver interventions matched to identified needs.
You will have excellent engagement skills, be committed to high quality service provision and the active involvement of service users.
Where: LancashireHours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £24,466.99 - £26,110.88 pro rata, dependant on experience
Responsibilities:
About the role:
- Representing Smokefree Lancashire and CGL in a professional manner on all occasion
- Empower and proactively engage service users to address their tobacco addiction using evidence-based interventions, in line with the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT)
- Carry out lung health checks in line with National Standards
- Working closely with your Nursing team to develop pathways to care
- Support service users in opiate and alcohol interventions.
- You will support on harm reduction interventions along with physical and mental health assessments.
- Keeping the people who use our services at the heart of everything you do
About you:
- Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work flexibly as part of a team
- Experience of working within substance misuse or a social care setting would be an advantage but not essential
- A clear understanding of the need for and ability to deliver quality services
- Good organisational skills
- Confidence to work on own initiative as well as part of the team
- Communicate confidently and effectively, verbally and in writing
- Respond flexibly to the demands of the post

Salary Range (pro rata if part time): CGL points 19 to 21 (£24,466.99 - £26,110.87)
