This is a part-time role (3 days per week, possibly 4 if preferred) and is fully office based.
Job Description
The Payroll Officer (Part-time) role involves:
- Lead, manage, and develop the payroll to ensure accurate and efficient payroll service in compliance with statutory, national and local policies.
- Calculate and ensure timely payment of taxes to HMRC, including PAYE, NIC and relevant levies.
- Accurately calculate and deduct statutory and other payroll deductions, ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations.
- Maintain strong relationships with all pension providers, manage monthly pension processes and reporting, ensuring compliance with pension legislation.
- Prepare monthly payroll journals and accounts reconciliations for management reporting.
- Calculate monthly wages accrual for hourly paid staff.
- Provide payroll and pension data to external auditors for year-end audit
- Report on headcount.
- P11D submissions, P45's and P60's.
- Ensuring employee records are maintained and up to date.
- Update and maintain policies, procedures, and practices to ensure legal compliance and best practice, including maintaining staff handbook.
- Manage payroll assistant.
- Ability to communicate with HMRC and and queries that may arise.
- Ensure HR policies are kept up to date.
- Ensure HR compliance is continually reviewed and kept up to date.
- Advise on changes in payroll / HR legislation and the impact on the business .
- Monitor employee sick leave and ensure procedures are in place to minimise sick leave.
- Ad hoc tasks to assist the department.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Payroll Officer (Part-time) should have:
- Previous experience within Payroll
- Experience with either ADP or Sage Payroll is desirable.
- Must live within a commutable distance as this is an office based role.
