Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum)
Hours: 4 hours per week
Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.80
Based at: Employer’s own home in Felixstowe, Suffolk and out in the local community
Job Purpose
The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a young boy with who is non-verbal and has learning difficulties. The purpose is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support him with all his needs.The child is a very sweet boy who is loving, funny and fairly easy-going. He likes affection, lots of energetic activites. He loves people, animals and has no sensory issues. We are looking for someone positive, laid-back and confident.
Main duties:
To support with:- Personal care e.g. washing, toileting..
- Constant supervision is required at all times.
- Support with all safety aspects.
- To be a social friendly companion to the child
- Assisting with medication
- To support with sensory play
- You will be required to keep him entertained in the home.
- To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys such as soft play, going to the zoo / park etc.
- To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
- Personal Specification
- Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.
- Experience with caring for children is essential
- Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
- You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- You should have knowledge and understanding of risks.
- Be patient and supportive.

This post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check at the Employers request prior to commencing employment. This is confidential and at no cost to yourself. The post carries a 6-month probationary period.
