The Sirona Adult Learning Disability Health Service (SALDHS) is a centre of excellence for specialist learning disability health needs.
We cover 3 localities where multidisciplinary teams enable our service users to access health services through direct care, liaison with other services and offering support and training on how to work with people who have a learning disability and how to make reasonable adjustments.
The service prides itself on delivering high quality support to service users with a variety of physical and mental health issues alongside their Learning Disability. All staff are required to use a range of communication and listening skills to work effectively with our service users.Where necessary you will be required to work at other bases or work remotely from home.
The role will focused on developing O.T. practice with service users whose functional abilities are impacted by a variety of physical conditions. which impact on the individuals ability to undertake essential functional activities. Providing support to the ADLHS team; working with a wide and complex diverse service user population with Learning Disabilities.
Main duties of the job- To provide a highly specialised Occupational Therapy assessment and implement patient-centred treatment programmes for people with Learning Disabilities within their homes or current place of residence as part of the SALDHS, working alongside the rest of the MDT.
- To provide Learning Disability and Specialist Occupational Therapy specific advice, support and training to other Sirona staff and wider to other agencies as necessary
- Clinical line management responsibility, to provide leadership, clinical support, development, and supervision of the multi-disciplinary SALDHS.
- To provide professional support to all relevant practitioners within their discipline across the SALDHS.
- To promote a positive approach to change, to facilitate the continued development of the SALDHS.
- Coordinate the multi-professional team closely with the Locality and Professional leads and Clinical and Operational Lead for SALDHS.
- To hold a highly specialist clinical caseload including independent management of people with Learning Disabilities with complex presentation

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Sirona care & health currently recruit overseas nursing and therapy staff through an NHS Trust Supplier and we adhere to the NHSE Code of Practice in relation to applicants from Red List countries. Essential criteria- • Diploma/ degree in Occupational therapy
- • To be able to travel between a variety of locations within BNSSG. A motorised vehicle is required.
- • Broad experience of the core areas of Occupational Therapy, including: Postural Management, Sensory Integration Approach, Mental Health, Equipment provision
- Experience in delivering Occupational Therapy to adults with learning disabilities in a community setting
Skills
Essential criteria- Experience of day-to-day supervision of more junior members of staff
- • Able to work collaboratively within own and multidisciplinary health and social care teams
