The team is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Associate with personal injury experience, preferably defender side but pursuer experience will also be considered.

The Senior Associate will be dealing with a range of high value files from £500,000, to seven figure claims across motor and casualty claims. There will also be some exposure to commercial insurance work as required.

The team is based in Edinburgh and Glasgow, but we are open to candidates based throughout Scotland, and are open to discussing the nature of the hybrid working patterns of this role.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Associate in our Major Loss & Casualty team, you will engage in a wide range of activities, such as:

  • Managing a caseload of high value claims, compromising a variety of defender catastrophic injury, EL/PL, RTA and fatal accidents claims.
  • Drafting pleadings, reports to clients, attending court hearings, working to court deadlines, conducting liability investigations, gathering evidence, instructing experts and considering medical causation.
  • Prioritising work effectively and to maximise efficiency in working practices, adhering to court deadlines and directions, as well as the client's service level agreements.
  • Building working relationships internally and externally in order to maintain client relationships, develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firm’s direction and client needs.
  • Line managing more junior members in the team, including paralegals and NQ solicitors.
  • Supporting the team on commercial insurance files as and when required.

What will help you succeed in this role? :

Desirable Criteria:

  • 5+ years PQE, preferable with personal injury, large loss, and/or casualty claims experience.
  • Technically experienced in and/or a real interest in employer’s liability, public liability, RTA, and serious injury work
  • Ideally experienced handling high value defender personal injury files either in your own right, or as an assistant to more senior team members.
  • Familiar with working in a commercial environment
