We are thrilled to announce the imminent opening of a brand new independent school, part of an exceptional educational trust in Huddersfield. This pioneering institution specialises in providing a nurturing and inclusive education for children and young people with special educational needs, aged 10 to 18.

In preparation for our grand opening, we urgently seek a passionate Special Needs English Teacher to join our innovative team. This role offers an incredible opportunity to be part of a foundational staff, shaping the future of a school where up to 24 students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Design and implement an engaging English curriculum tailored for students with special educational needs. Ensure lessons are interactive and accommodate various learning styles.
  • Classroom Management: Create and maintain a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other educational professionals to integrate a holistic and therapeutic approach into daily teaching practices. Regularly communicate with families to involve them in the educational process and ensure a cohesive approach to student development.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Continuously assess student progress through formal and informal methods. Provide detailed feedback to students, parents, and educational coordinators, adapting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational research and best practices in teaching students with special needs.
  • Extracurricular Involvement: Lead and participate in school activities that promote personal and social development, aligning with the school’s ethos of holistic education.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualifications: Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialisation in English.
  • Experience: Prior experience teaching English to students with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in creating differentiated learning materials and using educational technology to enhance learning.
