Due to progression of the previous post holder an opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the acute paediatrics administration team as our new Clinical Admin Lead.

The role of the CAL is to support the delivery of access targets, cancer targets and be responsible for data quality within a specialty area.

We are looking for a conscientious and adaptable person to work with the service. As our CAL you will be leading a team of 12 staff ensuring that we are providing a comprehensive administrative service to our Healthcare Professionals and Patients, ensuring best practice and adherence to Trust policies and procedures is maintained at all times.

Experience of people management in a supervisory capacity is essential for this post.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent organisation skills, the ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team and an ability to prioritise and problem solve. The role ideally suits candidates looking to further their career in healthcare administration with a keenness to learn.

Applicants should display excellent communication skills as the post holder will be liaising with staff at all levels.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this job description are explained, however, these will continue to evolve to meet corporate objectives and NHS targets.

Manage, day to day, the administrative team, ensuring that workflow and output is managed to meet Trust targets.

Support, educate and develop administrative and clinical staff to understand the principles of RTT and maximise and utilise relevant reports and data to support delivery.

Manage the staffing levels within a pre-determined level of funded manpower resource as defined by Service Lead/Deputy Divisional Manager.

Be a role model demonstrating good communication and ensuring robust and open communication with all staff through regular meetings within the specialty area.

Have robust knowledge and understanding of both Trust and National access targets, in particular the RTT pathways for clinical services.

Respond to shortfall issues and action accordingly, ensuring escalation as necessary.

Regularly utilise Trust information systems such as Maxims for the creation of correspondence, reports and other documents. Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Patient Administration System (PAS) and Casenote Management.

Maintain absolute patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with Trust policy and the legal framework such as the Data Protection Act.

Participate in the Performance Development Review process (appraisal) in line with National and Trust Policies.

  • Educated to GCSE in English Language and Maths Grade A to C or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant NHS experience or equivalent
  • Experience of staff supervision or a willingness to train and develop knowledge and skill in this area within 12-18 months of appointment
