Ward Administrator | Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust
Applications are invited for a Band 3 Ward Administrator to work in our busy mental health inpatient service based at Guild Lodge in Whittingham to provide a comprehensive administration and information service across the service, and coordinate their activities with other members of the administration team to ensure an efficient and confidential service is provided.
Working pattern (hours):Full time
Hours / sessions per week:37.5 hours per week- Act as a first point of contact for patients, relatives and visiting staff, welcoming them to the ward and dealing with any queries regarding admission, discharge, visiting times, accommodation, insurance and parking
- To demonstrate good communication skills when dealing with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams, other departments and hospitals and community health professionals
- Liaise with private patient services department
- Answering the telephone in a professional and welcoming manner, responding to enquiries where possible and escalating appropriate enquiries to the nursing or medical team
- Answering the door to visitors and non-ward staff as appropriate
- Liaise with other departments/hospitals to obtain medical records and X-rays for authorised users. Filing investigation reports
- Communicate with other hospitals and community hospitals to arrange patient transfers, maintaining a good working relationship with relevant staff
- To use a professional approach and demonstrating tact, diplomacy, persuasive skills and empathy-referring on to ward manager/co-coordinator where appropriate
- Regularly check emails throughout the working day
- Liaise with patients/relatives to issue patient sickness certificates and relative parking permit forms referring any queries regarding these to the ward manager or unit co-ordinator
- Assist service users with completing HC2 dental forms in relation to the onsite dental service, ensuring that social benefit information is recorded accurately

Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
