This role with Bristol CAMHS-LD could be perfect for you. This post requires you to work with young people up to the age of 19 years who have a moderate to profound learning disability, behaviours which challenge and/or emotional and/or mental health difficulties.The role will involve working in a variety of settings with children/young people and their families along with working collaboratively with the skilled clinicians within the multidisciplinary team and the wider multiagency Network. The post holder will assist in the delivery of specialist support for children and young people who have a learning disability.
The post holder will be required to work across a variety of settings (e.g. family homes, educational settings and respite units) to support children and young people and their families ensuring that they receive structured support. During The Pandemic, the role requires a mixture of working from home, along with some office working and direct working with young people in a variety of environments they access.Resources to support remote working are provided, such as laptop and mobile phone.

We are looking for a support worker who has a passion and experience for working with young people with additional and complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. A kind, caring, compassionate and patient approach is essential, along with having creative and adaptable mindset are key to meet the varying needs of our service users.
The Bristol CAMHS-LD service prides itself on multi-disciplinary working. We are a multi-disciplinary service primary made up of Psychiatry, Learning Disability Nurses, Clinical Psychologists and Support workers. We follow national and local guidance to promote person centred, holistic support to improve quality of life, along with improving mental well-being for young people and their families.
We strive towards a gold standard practice, through the use of National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) with particular aim of following positive behaviour support (PBS) practice to support young people who present with autism and Moderate to profound learning disabilities and behaviours which challenge.You can find more information about our service in our service leaflet attached to this advert.
You will be required to travel around the county to carry out direct work, so the ability to travel is essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To support the clinicians with initial assessments and school observations in a variety of settings. This will involve note taking and talking to members of staff relevant to the child/young person. It includes communicating through email, face to face and on the telephone.
To create visual images and social stories and to make any information more accessible for children and young people with learning disabilities. This will involve using computer software packages designed to create imagery.
To create bespoke packages and information booklets and to work face to face with children and young people. Supporting, teaching and monitoring them as they use the packages.
To work in people’s homes or schools/colleges on an individual or small group basis. This might be to teach a particular skill or to facilitate a group session.
To use electronic systems which record care notes, care plans, risk assessments and any other information pertinent to the child. As well as electronic staff records to monitor own staff related issues.
To work as part of the team, attending and participating in team meetings, training events and workshops.

Person specification
Essential knowledge, skills and experience
Essential criteria- Good standard of education GCSE or equivalent
- NVQ3 in direct care/child care or equivalent levels of experience
- Basic IT skills including being confident creating visual support aids
- Significant experience of working professionally with children and/or learning disabilities
- Excellent communication skills including face to face, telephone and written communication
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
- Awareness of Child Protection policies and procedures
- Mobile for travel to meet requirements of post
- Demonstrate an enthusiastic, flexible and creative approach to work
- Be passionate about service user involvement
