Experienced Employment Lawyer – Newbury Office
We are currently seeking an Employment Lawyer to join a highly regarded and innovative law firm in their Newbury office. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, forward-thinking team and take on a diverse caseload as a Senior Associate.
Tasks
About the Role:
This permanent position involves handling a broad range of employment law matters, primarily on the respondent side, with some claimant work included. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload, which will cover both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. The role will also involve:
- Providing expert advice on issues such as recruitment, termination, discrimination, contract disputes, unfair dismissal, sickness absence, grievances, redundancies, TUPE, and performance concerns.
- Conducting employment tribunal proceedings and advising clients on tribunal claims.
- Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies, and handbooks.
- Supporting the Head of Department and Corporate Team with transactional work.
- Providing guidance on senior exits and settlement agreements.
- Attending networking events and driving business development for the team.
You will also support the development of junior team members, providing training and guidance on employment law matters.
Requirements
About You:
- 6+ years’ PQE in employment law, ideally from a commercial law firm background.
- Experience managing employment tribunal claims and/or providing corporate support is highly desirable.
- A self-starter with the ability to manage a busy caseload and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent client-facing skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both clients and colleagues.
- Strong business development skills and a proactive approach to seeking new opportunities.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
