Main duties of the job

We are looking for a skilled and versatile Consultant Intensivist, with good inter-personal skills, to join this large, friendly and supportive department. The GICU team is fully integrated with the Anaesthetic department, and a majority of GICU Consultants also deliver Anaesthetic sessions.

UHS is the largest centre for Intensive Care on the South Coast and has a regional responsibility for delivery of specialist care, education and Research. The Unit achieves very high quality ICNARC data and some of the best outcomes nationally from wave 1 of the SARS-Covid19 pandemic.

The General ICU has been recently completely rebuilt, and this state-of-the-art facility opened in November 2020. The quality of the environment in the new unit is second to none and provides a greatly enhanced GICU environment to the benefit of both staff and patients.

The final phase of this refurbishment is in progress.
