We currently have an exciting secondment opportunity for a band 4 Educational assistant to support the Learning and Development Lead within Combined Community and Acute Care Group
Are you interested in developing your skills and knowledge in education? Do you want experience in training and development? This secondment will give you the opportunity to gain these skills and broaden your knowledge base.
The role will require the post holder to be responsible for the provision of identified learning opportunities for all grades of staff. To also plan, implement and deliver training including clinical skills and be responsible for the provision of and access to specific mandatory training within the care group including delivering moving and handling and basic life support.
This will include processes which support the efficient administration of training such as monitoring training compliance.
Main duties of the job- Be responsible for the provision of identified learning opportunities for all grades of staff.
- Maintain a high-profile educational presence within the care group.
- Be responsible for the provision of and access to specific mandatory training within the care group including delivering moving and handling and basic life support.
- Plan, implement and deliver training including clinical skills; e.g. phlebotomy and intravenous cannulation, ECG, React to Red, VTE and anti-embolism stockings training.
- Promote an environment of lifelong learning to maximise staff recruitment and retention.

The successful applicant will be supported to use their own initiative working with the registered practitioner in clinical skills, teaching and assessments.
You will be able to use your effective verbal, written and IT communication skills to assist the registered practitioner to provide a high profile educational presence within the care group. As part of the Clinical Education team you will be involved in the provision of a varied and exciting educational programme, including Mandatory Training, Job Specific Training and Clinical Skills for all grades of staff within a multi professional group.
Training and development is a high priority in this care group and your own development will be actively supported.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 12 months. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder.The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Maths and English Language GCSE grade C/4 or above or equivalent qualification/experience
- Diploma level 4 qualification in appropriate subject OR A level / Level 3 qualification in relevant subjects and demonstrable experience in a relevant area e.g. Health & Social Care, education and training
- A teaching and assessing qualification E.g. TTWA, CAP.
Experience
Essential criteria- Relevant experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience of teaching to groups of people including planning of the sessions
Further Training
Essential criteria- Evidence of professional development.
- Moving & Handling Key Trainer
- Resuscitation Key Trainer
- ECG recording
- PALMS administration
- Competent in phlebotomy, and cannulation skills.
Special Skills/Aptitudes
Essential criteria- Skills in IT i.e. able to use Microsoft excel, word and email to a basic level
