gap personnel Exeter, working in partnership with highly reputable manufacturing company based in Newton Abbot are currently recruiting for 10 Vehicle Assembly / Fitter Operatives with immediate starts.
The company are specialists within converting and manufacturing of wheelchair accessible vehicles. They supply throughout the UK and due to continued demand of their product, they are looking to expand their production teams – this is where they need you!
Do you have any skills within fabrication, manufacturing, wiring, assembly, carpentry, use of power tools? Or do you have an interest on the weekends of tinkering, building or restoration? If so, you have the skills we are looking for.
As a Vehicle Assembly / Fitter Operative your duties will include:
Insulation and ply lining of vehiclesFitting and assembly of seats and tail lifts
Fitting of window glass and roof lights
Installation and fitting of varying types if floor coverings.
Performing assembly operations by following work instructions.
Working in a safe manner as instructed either by the section team leader or supervisor or following written work instruction where relevant.
Ensuring the work area is clean and tidy and maintained as such on a daily basisAbout You:
Keen eye for detail and a mechanical knowledge and interest to assist with production (desirable but not essential)Previous experience of working within a factory environment (desirable but not essential)
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Full UK / EU driving license
An understanding of vehicle electrics (desirable but not essential)
Competent in the use of hand tools, measuring and working from technical drawings)
Working Hours & Pay:
8am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (Training), then moving onto a rotating shift of 6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm, Monday to Friday£12.00ph - £13.00ph
Overtime paid at x1.5 after 40 hours

Successful candidates will be pro-active team workers, liaising and co-operating with all members of staff. Operate within the confines of company policy and procedure requirements, including integrity and confidentiality in respect of the business.Abide by health and safety legislation in respect of yourself and others.
