To provide day to day care for service users under supervision of a Clinician which adheres to best practice, standards and guidelines, and contributes towards the service users care and treatment.
  • Work in partnership with service users, other members of the MDT staff as appropriate, to achieve the optimum health outcome for clients
  • To be part of the MDT in providing a high and consistent level of holistic care, maintaining the dignity and equality of the individual. This includes direct care.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for someone caring and enthusiastic to work full time as a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker within the Denbighshire Community Mental Health Team.
Candidates must hold a positive attitude to the mental health care of the older persons client group and be able to ensure that individual's needs for privacy, respect, dignity and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

The successful candidate will provide high standards of care and work as part of a well-established and supportive multidisciplinary team based at Community Mental Health Team in Denbighshire

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • QCF Level 3 or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • NVQ level 3 in Health & Social care related subjects or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • Good knowledge of anatomy & physiology
  • Have an understanding of multi disciplinary/ agency working and of individual team roles
Desirable criteria
  • All Wales HCSW induction framework
  • Training in Mental Health
  • Understanding of risk management and health and safety issues

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as a HCSW without direct supervision in a clinical setting and being managed by a qualified practitioner.
  • Good understanding of risk assessment and management
  • Significant experience of working in a caring environment for older people
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a mental health care setting
  • Experience of working in the community

Skills

  • Evidence of Being able to provide wound care using aseptic technique
  • ANNT
