This is a Temporary, Part Time vacancy.
Dean Close Foundation are looking to appoint a new Catering General Assistant to join our Catering Department. This role is a fixed term contract, covering parental leave, working hours as required, and we are offering a pay rate of £12.21 per hour.
The primary role is to support the Catering Manager and wider catering department and to assist in the provision of a professional food service to the pupils and staff at the school. Other roles and responsibilities include:
- Assisting at service times, in an efficient and approachable manner
- Completing and maintaining regular training, such as Health & Safety, Allergen & Food Hygiene
- Adhering to the highest standard of safety, cleanliness and professionalism by:
- Reporting any inaccuracies, concerns, potential risks, accidents or incidents of fire, theft, loss or damage to your line manager
- Reporting any suspected safeguarding issues to your line manager or Safeguarding Lead
- Ensuring efficient clearing of all dirty crockery, cutlery, etc. and maintain all areas to the highest possible standard of cleanliness
- Loading and unloading the commercial dishwasher; ensuring all tableware and equipment are clean, dry and stored back in the correct place
- Stock rotation to ensure all perishable stock is in-date, and shortest dates are used first
- Ensuring kitchen & service areas are kept clean and tidy
- Assisting in the correct recycling/disposal of all waste
- Ensuring the correct uniform is always worn while on duty
- Establishing and maintaining friendly and professional relationships with colleagues, pupils, parents, suppliers and Foundation staff
- Undertake any reasonable duties required that are related to the job purpose from time to time
Ideally, we would like to appoint a candidate an experience catering assistant who has a Level 2 in Food Safety and Hygiene qualification, however, we would be able to provide training for this for suitable people.
