SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are seeking additional learning needs (ALN) staff to support students within secondary schools in Newport. This role is essential in enabling our SEN students to reach their full potential by providing personalised support and guidance to enhance their access to learning and social situations.

Location: Newport
Pay Rate: £12.90 per hour
Hours: Monday – Friday. School Hours

Start Date: Immediate start

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support a student/group of students to help them understand concepts and complete assignments and activities assigned by the teacher.
  • Implement strategies that address the physical, emotional, or academic challenges faced by each student.
  • Ensure the pupil is kept safe, with an inclusive and stimulating environment.
  • Foster a positive connection with the student to initiate trust and play a vital role in their educational journey.
  • Participate in training and professional development sessions related to Autism, ADHD and other additional needs.
Requirements
  • Experience working with vulnerable children/young adults is not a requirement but is preferred.
  • EWC registration (or willingness to apply)
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
