Banking Paralegal

apartmentWomble Bond Dickinson placeLeeds descriptionPermanent calendar_month

Our Banking and Finance practice acts for banks, non-traditional lenders, public sector bodies and borrower clients in relation to a wide range of financing transactions.

The team are now looking for two talented Paralegals to join them in our Leeds Office. With a strong rating in Chambers, and an enviable FTSE 250 client list, this is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary banking practice with national and international reach.

What will you be doing?

You'll play an important role in assisting an experienced team of solicitors with a busy and varied workload and will be working closely with the other members of the national banking team. You'll be responsible for supporting the team on the full range of banking and real estate finance transactions.

Your work will include (i) assisting with the preparation, review and proofing of finance documents, (ii) reviewing constitutional documents and Companies House records, (iii) preparing board minutes, shareholder resolutions and other corporate authorisations, (iv) managing conditions precedent checklists, (iii) managing deal rooms, (iv) coordinating the signing of documents and assisting with closings, (v) post transaction matters such as registrations, records maintenance and reporting.

We are also looking to grow our client base, so you can expect to be involved in business development activities, including attendance at events (both internal and external) and preparation of tender submissions.

So what are we looking for?

Ideally, you'll have already completed your legal education including at least a law degree or equivalent. You need to be live to issues which may have a bearing on your work and so you'll have an inquisitive mind as well as an eye for detail.

It is also important that you're highly organised, efficient and able to prioritise effectively and communicate clearly.

To be successful in this role you'll need as a minimum:

  • Have completed your law degree or other legal qualification and/or at least 6 months experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or similar role.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience managing multiple workloads simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Previous experience within Banking & Finance
  • Experience of working within a large law firm
  • Familiarity with Loan Market Association documentation
