Are you an experienced and dynamic Shift Process Operator looking for your next position?

We are currently looking for a Shift Process Operator at our packing plant in Barnstone, Nottingham to be a key member of the packed production team. Working to meet safety, production and financial targets, you will be accountable for the smooth running and performance of your allocated plant item and or task.

You will carry out duties such as first line maintenance, cleaning, manual handling and training, as and when required. All activities will be undertaken in accordance with the Tarmac / CRH site standards, policies, procedures and safe systems of work.Main Responsibilities

As the successful Shift Process Operator, you will report to the Shift Co-ordinator and will be responsible ensuring safe working procedures are followed at all times for all employees and contractors. Rotational shift working is a requirement of this role in line with the 24/7 operation of the plant.

On a day to day basis, duties and responsibilities of the Shift Process Operator will include (not exhaustive):

  • Operating of all packing plant equipment
  • Carrying out daily production reporting
  • Loading and unloading of HGV trucks and running material to stock
  • Supporting the development and implementation of SHE policies and procedures with the aim of maintaining safety standards and eliminating safety and environmental incidents
  • Reviewing equipment and production conditions in accordance with job plans
  • Monitoring, reporting and recording accidents, unsafe conditions and unauthorised releases, taking immediate corrective action when possible
  • Identifying and undertaking minor maintenance repairs and adjustments
  • Supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and proposing improvement actions
  • Carrying out accurate stock measurements, reporting to the Shift Coordinator. Ensuring additives and raw materials are available at the designed areas and in correct quantity
  • Ensuring all required documentation is completed in line with instruction from Shift Co-ordinator
  • Relaying all relevant information related to limited throughput or stoppage of plant to the maintenance department The Ideal Candidate

The ideal Shift Process Operator will be able to demonstrate experience of working in a busy manufacturing / production environment within a fast-paced plant operation, with a background of fault finding. Experience of operating a robotic production line would be desirable with electrical or mechanical skills beneficial, due to the nature of the 24/7 operation and the need to identify and resolve job “stoppers” and “slowers”.

In the role of Shift Process Operator you will also possess the following:

  • Strong Health, Safety and Environmental awareness
  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • A good mechanical understanding of heavy industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety procedures and ability to lead by example
  • Be results driven, with the ability to handle numerous complex issues simultaneously
  • Accuracy and precision with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with experience of report writing skills
  • Ability to prioritise, make decisions and propose actions

The role is based at our Barnstone plant in Nottingham. The site is easily accessible from Coalville, Mansfield, Derby, Castle Donnington, Newark on Trent, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Leicester, Stamford, and the surrounding areas.
