The exciting news is that our department is expanding and we have started our 24/7 Thrombectomy.

You will be part of a specialist team and enjoy a post with autonomy and responsibility.

This post is for a Radiographer based in the Neuroradiology department who will undertake CT, digital angiography, both diagnostic and interventional, MRI at 1.5.T and 3T, plain x-rays and theatre radiography. This post does involve an On-call commitment and an extended weekday is worked in MRI and Angio plus weekends.

For those that can demonstrate sound technical skills, maturity, confidence, initiative and a keen desire to specialise, our Neuroradiology department provides an outstanding opportunity.

You will receive excellent specialised training in all the above modalities and all the support you need to progress and become a valued member of the department.

Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient, effective and responsive imaging service for Patients and Staff.
General first line supervisory and radiographic duties.
You will be a relatively experienced radiographer (Minimum 3 years), able to assess and organise own workload of patients ensuring the provision of the highest standards of patient care.
Must be able to work autonomously and carry out a variety of radiographic examinations within the hospital managing patient priority as appropriate.

The patients can present with a range of physical and mental limitations including being unconscious, incapacitated, unco-operative, displaying aggressive or threatening behaviour

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • DCR/BSc Radiography
  • HPC Registered
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Post graduate certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 3 years post graduate experience
  • Experience of basic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Must have a Comprehensive knowledge of current issues - the development of the profession and contemporary issues
  • Provide an up-to-date CPD portfolio
  • Have Good technical skills - Have a high technical standard and speed consistent with accuracy
  • Problem solving
  • Have an in depth knowledge of the justification process of the IR(ME)R regulations and the impact within the imaging dept and the protocols and guidelines
  • Be Actively involved in department improvements must have supporting evidence in projects/surveys/audits
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in CT
  • Routinely undertake the training and development of other personnel including students
  • Willing to train in role extension where required

  • Must be competent in routine and non routine radiographic techniques
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be able to audit and evaluate own work and others performance
  • Be able to provide support and professional development for staff
  • Clear writing and oral skills.

  • Ability to manage workload in terms of time, resources and people to meet the needs of the department
  • An understanding of and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team but also confident to work autonomously without direct supervision
