Job overview

The post will work with heavy industry machines such as Lathes, Milling machines, drills and CNC equipment. Applications are complex and specialised, requiring high precision and lead to the development and construction of prototype devices, which aid in a wide range of patient treatment and an improved quality of living to a section of the community.

The work also involves the design and manufacture of aids and adaptations for the disabled and carers to enable them to maintain independence.

Main duties of the job

Many different types of calibration apparatus and phantoms are produced for the setting up and calibration of equipment in areas of Oncology, Radiation Physics, CT, MRI, X-ray and Nuclear Medicine.

The work also involves the design and manufacture of aids and adaptations for the disabled and carers to enable them to maintain independence.

Qualifications

• H.N.C, B/ENG or equivalent
• Professional qualification to enable full state registration

• Computer literate to R.S.A. 1/ E.C.D.L.
• C.A.D. competent to C.G.L.I
• N.V.Q. level 3

Experience

• Time served apprenticeship
• Five years development engineering experience

• ExperieToolmaker Instrument technician or equivalentnce in a Medical environment

Skills, Knowledge and Ability

• Ability to design and manufacture, to a high standard, with little given information.
• Familiar with workshop practices.
