We have an exciting opportunity to join our existing innovative Rheumatology Administration & Clerical Team with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to provide administrative and secretarial support to the clinical team.
The role is a great opportunity to start or continue your career within the NHS.
Main duties of the job
You will need to be a team player with experience of working in an office environment. Experience of dealing with the public will be an advantage.
You will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team with excellent written and verbal communication skills and organisational abilities. The Trust is an ever-changing environment and you would need to be able to retain your focus on providing an excellent service.

We are a friendly, hardworking and supportive team. The Rheumatology multi-disciplinary team is based in Kitson Hall at Torbay Hospital and consists of Consultants, Registrar, Specialist Nurses, Research Nurses, Medications Unit and the admin team.The clinical team is supported by the Operational Support Manager, Admin Team Leader, and a team of medical secretaries and admin support staff, who provide comprehensive administrative and co-ordination support.
The Rheumatology service is very busy and the admin team are paramount in ensuring the efficiency of the department. It is vital that each member of the team can work well under pressure, prioritise their workload effectively and work both independently and collaboratively as a team.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- GCSE English & Maths grade C or above
- Typing at a level of speed & accuracy
- Experience of audio typing
- Typing ability to a minimum of RSA II (or equivalent)
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria- Customer care experience of providing a customer focused service
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise own workload and achieve deadlines
- Medical Secretary/NHS experience
- Knowledge and experience of the Trust patient administrative and information systems
- Proficient in the use of email and internet
