In August 2024 our mathematics results were outstanding, 83% of our students gaining 4+, 63% at 5+ and 28% achieving 7+. Progress 8 scores have consistently been outstanding at 0.50+ or better.
Mathematics is taught in a suite of 11 fully resourced classrooms, all with Smartboards, AQA text materials and visualisers. In addition, there are two discrete ICT areas attached to the department.
Students in Y7 and Y8 follow a Mastery and Numeracy curriculum with White Rose and the Sussex Hub. KS4 students follow the AQA GCSE specification starting in Y9. Some students also opt for the AQA Statistics course and go on to study the OCR Free Standing Maths Qualification in Y11.
