This role of Network Manager will report directly to the IT Director and you will be based at a newly built school in the Oldham area.
Your new role
As Network Manager for this secondary school, you will also oversee three primary schools in the local area, as well as oversee the IT team for the four schools, which consists of 1 Senior IT Technician and 1 IT Technician, both well-established in their roles.As the Trust Hub Network Manager, you will be responsible for the overall network management and support from an IT service perspective, working on central IT projects and developing the use of IT services, working closely with the wider IT team and academic staff on site in the schools.
The organisation works on Microsoft 365 and, therefore, you will lead on the use of this application, working closely with end users around the use of the application. From a network management perspective, this will include ensuring the network is maintained and robust, ensuring all staff have the relevant access, ensuring servers are maintained and also maintaining the cyber response plan.
You will oversee the help desk function, working with the two IT Technicians to ensure that tickets are responded to efficiently and resolved correctly, continuously reviewing working practices and suggesting enhancements and improvements. Working closely with the IT Director, you will take ownership of IT projects and strategies to support the development and growth of the organisation, promoting operational improvements and working proactively.
From an operational management perspective, you will work closely on developing the skills of the two IT Technicians, undertaking the relevant reviews and appraisals, coaching and mentoring around good practice and ensuring objectives are delivered.
With overall responsibility for the 4 sites, you will also therefore have responsibility for the school IT budget, ensuring that all resources are available and liaising with suppliers as and when required regarding the procurement of new IT equipment.
This is an exciting role for either an established Network Manager to take on a multi-site role, or for a Senior Technician with education sector experience to move into their first managerial role. Please note this role will be based on site 5 days a week.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this role, you will have experience of overseeing IT in the education sector, ideally having managed a team of technicians, or, as a minimum, with experience of mentoring and training more junior members of staff.Experience working on Microsoft 365 will be essential, as well as experience in delivering IT projects across an organisation. A real passion for the education sector will be required, as well as an interest in managing a wider IT team and progressing your career.

You will report to an incredibly experienced IT Director who has been with the trust for over 20 years and who has demonstrated strong leadership skills.The salary for this role will be between £37,000 and £45,000 dependent on experience, and you will also receive either 25, 29 or 32 days holiday plus bank dependent on experience and access to their wider benefits package.
