Job overview
We are excited to be able to recruit an additional trained nurse, full time/part time to support our current bed base. The Surgical Admissions Unit is a fast paced unit that cares for patients from a variety of specialities; including Upper GI, Colo-rectal, Urology, Vascular and Gynaecology and Breast.We are currently expanding our specialist workforce to make us a leading department. We are looking to recruit a staff nurse with the ability to prioritise and multi-task in a busy environment; who are also able to cope with demanding changing of prioritises and also able to adapt to a flexible approach of working.

We take direct admissions from GP, Accident and Emergency and other healthcare professionals. We are a specialist admissions unit and function like the Accident and Emergency Unit.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- NMC Registered Nurse (Adult)
- Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing studies
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of caring for patients with acute and long term conditions in an acute setting
- 2 years post qualification experience
- Acute Surgical Experience
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria- Non-IV and IV medication administration including administration of blood products. in accordance to the NMC Standards for Medicines Management
- Basic IT Skills
- Demonstrable ability with vital signs monitoring equipment and ability to recognise the deteriorating patient
- Able to check charts or calculate drug dosages for infusions requiring frequent concentration
- Male Catheterisation
- ECG recording
- Venepuncture and Cannulation
