Autism Teaching Assistant
A flexible, and inclusive school for children and young people aged 7-19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs, is currently hiring for a number of teaching assistants to support across the key stages.
If you are passionate about education and would you like to work with some of the most vulnerable people in the community then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
The responsibilities and contributions of a TA in a SEND school are typically more specialised compared to mainstream settings, focusing on individualised support for students who have additional learning, behavioural, emotional, or physical challenges.
Here's an overview of some of the key roles:
- Managing Challenging Behaviour: you will work closely with students to help them manage their emotions, behaviours, and social interactions.
- Positive Reinforcement: you will use techniques such as praise, rewards, or structured routines to encourage good behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
- Differentiation: adapt teaching materials and strategies to meet students' learning styles and capabilities, ensuring all pupils can access the curriculum.
- Working with Teachers: you will work closely with the classroom teacher to plan lessons and activities that are suitable for each student’s needs. They may also help in assessing student progress and updating education plans.
- Adhering to Safeguarding Policies: you will play an essential role in safeguarding students, being trained to recognise and report any concerns related to abuse, neglect, or bullying.
This can be a very demanding role so you will need to be resilient and adaptable to be successful.
Benefits of working there:
- Free lunch every day and breakfast on a Friday
- CPD training every Thursday afternoon
- Opportunities to complete Level 3 and 4 Teaching Assistant Courses
- Curriculum includes outdoor education and forest school
