Are you looking for a role within a growing service dedicated to improving the lives of people?
We are looking for a Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join the Adult Community Eating Disorder (ACED) team covering Oxfordshire based in Oxford.
Over the past few years the service has been through significant transformation, this included a skill mix review and successful recruitment, developing our internal pathways and working with our system partners to develop the Eating Disorder Pathways across primary and secondary care.We are passionate about continuing to imbed and build on these developments.
The Oxon Adult Community Eating Disorder team is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Therapists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Dietitians, Social Worker, Assistant Psychologists, Community Support Workers and team Administrators.
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- To provide Specialist Psychological assessments of patients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources.
- To make skilled evaluations to formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a patient’s mental health problems, based upon appropriate conceptual framework of the patient’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy.
- To implement a range of highly specialist psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, adjusting/refining psychological formulations, informed by different exploratory models, and maintaining a number of hypotheses.
- To evaluate/make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical/therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individuals, family or group.
- To exercise professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients whose problems are managed by psychologically-based care plans, including communication with the referral agent /others involved in care.
- To provide supervision of more junior members of the team ,in particular psychologists, therapists and assistant psychologists and trainees, you will also take part in service development and associated audit and research

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Doctoral level training in psychology including specific models of psychopathology and psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS
- Current registration with the HCPC as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist within Adult Mental Health.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse
- Post qualification experience of working with eating disorder patients and their families.
- Experience of teaching and training.
- Experience of supervision of staff.
- Experience of chairing meetings and leading on clinical decision making
- Experience of supervision of trainee or assistant psychologists or other psychologists.
- Demonstrate further specialist training/experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours’ clinical supervision in CBT-ED, or any other relevant supervised practice experience in the evidence-based
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
- Experience of developing and running groups.
- Experience of providing consultation / training on eating disorders.

Essential criteria- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical, and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS / HCPC
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups.
- High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two evidence-based psychological therapies for the treatment of eating disorders (e.g., CBT-ED, Mantra, etc.).
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the patient group and mental health.
