Prospero Teaching are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant for a Primary School in Walsall, to provide one-on-one support for a Year 5 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The ideal candidate will have a nurturing, caring nature, with a commitment to helping children achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to a Year 5 pupil with SEMH needs.
- Assist with both academic and emotional support throughout the school day.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement personalised learning strategies.
- Create a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment.
- Encourage social skills and positive behaviour both inside and outside the classroom.
- Support the pupil in developing self-regulation and confidence in their learning.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children, preferably those with SEMH or additional needs.
- A nurturing and patient approach, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive and proactive attitude toward supporting student development.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. , Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN training) are desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to supporting the welfare and safeguarding of children.

- Full-time/Part-time - Part-time
- Minimum rate of pay - GBP85
- Hours - 8:30 - 3:30(term time only)
- It is essential that you have SEN Teaching assistant experience, along with a relevant qualification Level 2 or Level 3 Qualification in Childcare/TA
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training is imperative; you can undertake a free course with Prospero Teaching if you have not completed a Safeguarding course in the last 12 months.
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
- Possess an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
- Provide two professional child-related references.
