About the role

Based at our main offices in Leek, Staffordshire, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a collaborative project between SAS Water Ltd and the University of Staffordshire. SAS Water specialises in comprehensive water management solutions, including legionella control.

This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), funded by InnovateUK, focuses on advancing a new automated legionella detection and water management system. The project aims to develop a robust product development, sales, and marketing strategy to maximise market impact and drive product/service adoption.

The Business Product Development Manager will play a critical role in driving the development, promotion, and market adoption of SAS Water’s innovative automated legionella detection and water management system. This role combines expertise in marketing strategy, project management, and product development, requiring the ability to translate client needs and market research into actionable product enhancements.

The successful candidate will work closely with SAS Water’s team and University of Staffordshire academics to guide the product’s/services growth and establish its market presence.

This project will directly contribute to the introduction of an innovative product to the water management sector, enhancing SAS Water’s market offerings with cutting-edge automated technology for legionella detection and proactive water management.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for our Business Product Development Manager (KTP Associate) will be to:

  • Develop and implement a strategic product development and marketing plan for the automated legionella detection system, targeting key clients and markets.
  • Utilise project management skills to coordinate product development efforts, including gathering requirements and overseeing product enhancements.
  • Engage with prospective clients to present the system’s features and gather feedback to guide ongoing product development.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to design promotional materials and campaigns that highlight the system’s unique benefits.
  • Conduct research using industry and academic sources to inform product development and support strategic decisions.
  • Analyse reports, market trends, and competitor activities to refine the product’s market positioning and development roadmap.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment between client needs and product features.
  • Prepare client proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage onboarding for early adopters of the product.
  • Contribute to SAS’s sustainability initiatives by promoting the product’s potential to improve water management efficiency.
  • Other activities as the project develops that may support the successful delivery of the project.
