THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 7 MONTHS UNTILL SEPTEMBER 2025 DUE TO SECONDMENT COVER.

Public Health Wales has the remit to provide strategic leadership for the development of immunisation services across Wales; both in primary and secondary care and in addition to those non NHS organisations who have a need for immunisation advice and guidance.

An opportunity has arisen to join our existing team and help shape the future.

The Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme (VPDP) in Public Health Wales is seeking an experienced registered nurse to join the successful Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme (VPDP). It is a national role and will be key in supporting immunisation programmes in Wales.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with immunisation expertise, and experience in public health and service development.

The post involves contributing to the delivery of public health immunisation projects and interventions at an all Wales level using public health knowledge and skills.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be capable of responding to service changes and needs and have the ability to think logically and innovatively. Excellent IT skills are required and the need to be adaptable with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Nurse on Sub-part 1 of NMC Register
  • • Educated to degree level or have equivalent experience
  • • Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (degree level) or Specialist Post Graduate Qualification
  • • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • • Recognised infection prevention and control qualification
  • • Recognised teaching and assessing qualification
  • • Evidence of short course in health promotion (post grad certificate level)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience in either primary or secondary care setting or other demonstrable experience relevant to the post
  • • Experience of multidisciplinary team working
  • • Experience of prioritising and managing own workload to meet the demands of the service
  • • Experience of dealing with sensitive or difficult situations
  • • Experience of clinical immunisation service delivery in a variety of settings

The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable.

The salary scale shown is for a full-time member of staff, with the amount being adjusted pro rata for those working less than 37.5 hours per week.
