Capgemini Engineering is looking for an Experienced Digital System Engineer to take on a central role in digital data management in space programmes, with expertise in digital engineering and spacecraft operations and proven experience in similar roles with supplier and customer facing responsibilities and proven to be able to work effectively with co-located and remote teams concurrently accountable for delivery of all work packages.
Our portfolio of projects includes work at all stages of the system lifecycle, from concept definition to in-service support. As well as directly supporting systems engineering tasks for our clients, we also offer consultancy services to improve organization’s systems capabilities and enable digital transformation.
Capgemini Operates a hybrid working model with a combination of office and home-based working. This role will require approximately half of the time to be spent working in offices in Stevenage.

Your Role
Assume central responsibility for “On-board Data Handling” (OBDH) work packages, establishing and implementing robust spacecraft data handling platforms in support of Avionics/Functional engineering and oversee the delivery of related items (hardware, models, firmware, documentation) in space programs during phases B/C/D/E.
Act as the primary point of contact for all OBDH subjects with the customer, suppliers, and the project team.
Define the OBDH subsystem in collaboration with Avionics/Functional engineering, including:- Analysis of customer and mission requirements.
- Cascade of requirements to functional chains and subsystems.
- Definition of functional and electrical OBDH architectures.
- Analysis of system performance and coordination of supporting work packages.
Define OBDH subsystem components (e.g. On-board Computer (OBC), Remote Interface Unit (RIU), Mass Memory and Formatting Unit (MMFU), and Instrument Control Unit (ICU)) and be responsible for defining the components in alignment with mission requirements, electrical and software architecture, maintaining them throughout the project lifecycle, and delivering them, along with the Avionics/Functional engineering teams, to the project while adhering to On Time, On Quality, On Cost (OTOQOC) principles.
Manage suppliers, including:- Co-engineering with suppliers.
- Coordination of relevant design and Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration, and Test (MAIT) activities at the supplier level.
- Support for the supply management team to ensure On Time, On Quality, On Cost (OTOQOC) deliveries of procured items.
- Support for quality assurance regarding OBDH deliveries.
- Providing inputs to Systems engineering management for OBDH items (Design descriptions, inputs to the Engineering Interface Control Document (EICD), etc.).
- Supporting relevant operations and Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) activities at the system level.
- Supporting the launch campaign for the purposes of the OBDH.

Your Skills and Experience- Master's degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field such as physics or aerospace with knowledge in digital engineering and electronics.
- Extensive hardware/software design experience including the implementation, verification, and validation of algorithms in ASICs and FPGAs in collaboration with application developers, etc.
- Proficiency in English and the relevant local (French, German or Spanish) languages at a negotiation level.
- Stability, ability to work under pressure, international mindset, and a team player.
- Project management skills.
- Hands-on experience in space on-board data acquisition/handling at the System level.
- Extensive experience in early studies and Research and Development (R&D).

Your Security Clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.
