Provide CIC Adult Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) service straddles Acute and Community as one service. We work in collaboration with colleagues across the Mid & South Essex area both in Acute for MSEFT and across the Community with our colleagues in EPUT & NELFT.

We currently have exciting projects underway delivering an Intensive Aphasia Service and supporting our NQPs with a Legacy Programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of stroke skilled professionals going through a development process and partnership working across the Mid and South Essex area to create a seamless end to end pathway for stroke patients. The post holder will be working in the Acute Stroke Unit at Broomfield Hospital.

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic Speech & Language Therapist to join our team. If you are passionate about enabling people to regain independence and are a strong team player with a commitment to delivering the highest standard of Stroke Rehabilitation we would like to hear from you.

To work within an integrated multi-disciplinary team in the Acute Stroke Unit based at Broomfield Hospital.
To deliver high quality, efficient and effective Speech & Language Therapy service to patients referred to the Mid Essex Stroke rehabilitation service, in accordance with the philosophy and operational policies of the team.
To manage a complex caseload within stroke care using knowledge based clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments using a client centred, goal-orientated rehabilitation programme.
To be an active member of the stroke team, and contributing to specific clinical projects as agreed, and participating in service developments, audit and review of the stroke service.
To provide supervision as required to colleagues, therapy assistants and Speech & Language Therapy students whilst on placement in the service.
To contribute to induction and training for junior staff, therapy assistants, students, other disciplines and carers.

To be actively involved in Continuing Professional Development.

A specialist post providing a service to adults with acquired disorders of communication and swallowing in the acute setting.

The post requires specialist knowledge of complex acquired disorders, e.g. Aphasia, dysarthria and dysphagia resulting from acute stroke.

The post holder will manage a complex caseload within stroke care using knowledge based clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments using a client centred, goal-orientated rehabilitation programme.

The post holder will undertake diagnosis, assessment and treatment of patients with a range of speech, voice, communication and swallowing disorders. They will liaise and offer specialist advice as appropriate to a wide range of professionals.

The post holder will support and supervise junior colleagues and students.

The post holder is responsible for the daily organisation of sessions and caseload.

The post holder must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

The post holder musthold a minimum of a degree level qualification in Speech & Language Therapy and show evidence of study / experience at postgraduate level in the area of specialism.

The post holder must have completed post graduate training in Dysphagia recognised by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists or have equivalent relevant experience.

The post holder shouldbe registered with HCPC and should be a member of RCSLT

The post may require you to work across the other teams within the service which would necessitate a change in location and/or work setting e.g. in the Community Hospitals/people’s own home
