Mid and South Essex are seeking a Management Accounts Trainee. The aim of the role is to provide support to the Management Accountants and Management Accounts Assistants, in the provision of accurate and timely financial reporting and advice to a number of directorates, through the application of regular analysis and ad hoc tasks.
You will be required to complete the level 3 apprenticeship which should lead to successful completion of the level 3. Association of Accounting Technician qualification, whilst gaining practical finance experience, particularly within the management accounts team.
This apprenticeship is designed to give you a set of competencies, work experience and a qualification that could lead to employment within the NHS. The apprenticeship will be undertaken in collaboration with an approved training provider.
There will be classroom sessions and work based assessment, which contributes to the learning element of the programme. You will complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their learning and skills in practice in accordance with the apprenticeship framework.
You will be required to work a significant proportion of their time (more than 80%) using computer applications. The computer applications used include the software packages Excel, Word, Access, Oracle, Business Intelligence and our Trust payroll system ESR.
Main duties of the job- To assist with the production of accurate and timely financial performance reports from systems to support the financial management decisions by the Trust.
- Ensure that that all relevant income and expenditure is accurately reported in the financial statements of the Trust in accordance with monthly reporting timetables:
- Review, investigation and correction of data from payroll files
- Review, investigation and correction of data from stores files
- Review of invoices received by the Trust, the allocation of applicable account codes and raising accruals for journal input
- Raising of sales orders to external customers
- Review, investigation and correction of entries to clear suspense account balances
- Calculation and journal input for accruals and prepayments
- Calculation and journal input for internal recharges
- Journals input for financial coding corrections
- Review, investigation and correction of variances as reported on the monthly financial reports
- Support service with changes and recruitment of staffing. This will involve working with the service, Management Accountants and Deputy Finance Business Partners to ensure these are actioned, challenged and appropriately approved in a timely manner.
- Support the service and Financial services team with resolution of coding of invoices where appropriate

Qualifications
Essential criteria- At least 5 A*-C grade GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent.
Knowledge and Experience
