The role
This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and hard-working Deputy Catering Manager to play a key role in the busy Catering Department of a leading independent school.
Benenden School is renowned within the sector for its stunning food and caters for over 700 students and staff three times a day. It also produces high quality food for a wide range of events including gourmet banquets, vintage afternoon teas, barbecues, picnics, conferences and external events.The focus is always on quality, using fresh, seasonal, nutritious and locally sourced food. The role of the Deputy Catering Manager is to deputise for and support the Head of Catering, Commercial Services & Events in ensuring the Catering Department is run to the highest professional standards, delivering a food and beverage service that meets customer expectations, food and hygiene standards and financial targets.
You will continuously support the development of the catering service at the School through the creation and introduction of innovative and interesting menus. You will also be mindful of the health and wellbeing of the pupils and promote a healthy well-balanced lifestyle.
We are looking for an exceptional person with previous experience working in a supervisory or managerial role within a catering or events environment. You will hold a Level 3 Award in Food Safety and will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
This role will be worked over 40 hours per week, all year round, including some evening and weekend work, working on a 5 out of 7 days rota.

There are 550 girls in the school, aged 11-18, with approximately 190 of those in the Sixth Form.We are an ambitious school, with recent developments including a state-of-the-art Science Centre and all-weather Sports Pitch, and our new world-class Centenary Hall and Music School opened in June 2022.
Meals are provided to staff whilst on duty. The School’s leisure facilities, including a fitness gym and swimming pool are available for staff to use.
