The Akessa Healthcare Group owns and operates several boutique independent hospitals including The New Foscote Hospital, Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital and 107 Harley Street.

The New Foscote Hospital was established in Banbury over 40 years ago and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region. We have over 70 consultants, all of whom are leaders in their specialist fields and choose to hold their private practices here, working alongside our friendly, highly qualified, and experienced nursing and support teams.

The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital was established in Aylesbury in 1832 and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region. The ownership of the hospital was transferred to our new management team in January 2023.

By joining our existing portfolio, the hospital is now run professionally and provides clinical care to private, insured and NHS patients, with a strong ethos on caring for our staff.

107 Harley Street, is an outpatient, diagnostic and day-case facility. The Group has had a presence in the Harley Street area since 2010. The treatments offered at this facility includes oral and maxillofacial surgery, dermatology, orthodontics and specialist dentistry, plastic and cosmetic surgery, general surgery and rheumatology.

The clinical outcomes of the hospital are of the highest standards and the latest CQC report rated our hospital standards as good across all parameters. Our organisation has strong IT, operational, clinical governance and accountancy support.
Role Purpose:

The hospital is looking for a proactive, positive, results driven individual to lead our HR function and drive forward our People Strategy for a period of 9-12 months (depending on start date) to cover a period of maternity leave. Reporting to the senior executive team, the applicant will ensure the professional delivery of an end-to-end HR service, leading the execution of an exemplary employee experience to support employees across all functions and departments in doing their best work, whilst also attracting new talent to the organisation.

Working with the Senior Leadership Team, you will be accountable for all aspects of HR throughout the employee life cycle including:

  • Culture and embedding the values of the organisation
  • Reward & recognition, monitoring usage of existing benefits, completing renewals, introducing new benefits and performing salary reviews
  • Employee relations including conducting investigations
  • Resourcing (including recruitment and our graduate programme)
  • Equality, diversity & inclusion
  • Learning & development, induction development, monitoring mandatory training compliance in line with CQC, continuous evolution of the graduate development scheme and supporting managers with future-proofing their talent
  • Internal communications to drive engagement
  • Oversee and support with the transactional HR tasks including onboarding and pre-employment checks
  • Attend and act as supporting HR on occasion in complex HR meetings such as probationary meetings, investigatory meetings, grievance hearings and performance or training meetings
  • Lead on the People agenda to keep things progressing

What are we looking for:

  • Previous hands-on and leadership HR experience
  • A working knowledge of UK employment legislation and the ability to put this into practice when needed
  • Strong administration skills with excellent attention to details
  • Proficient in computer programmes, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to learn and use internal and external IT systems
  • Experience of working with Bamboo HR is desirable
  • Exceptional organisational skills
  • Ability to recognise the importance of strict confidentiality
