Are you an experienced IT professional with a passion for driving successful service transitions in complex IT environments? We’re looking for a Service Transition Manager to join our dynamic IT team.

As a Service Transition Manager, you’ll ensure the smooth delivery of service transition activities that meet stringent time, quality, and scope objectives. You’ll contribute to a vital organisation supporting over 70 NHS and non-NHS customers.

Main duties of the job

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Policy Development: Establishing and maintaining service transition policies, processes, and procedures for the organisation.
  • Project Leadership: Delivering service transition activities for highly complex programmes of work, utilising industry-standard methodologies and best practices.
  • Documentation: Leading the creation and delivery of service transition documentation, including drafting and preparing essential documents.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Overseeing all aspects of delivery within the service transition function and providing regular, detailed reports.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in service transition and managing complex programmes.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership abilities.
  • A full, clean driving licence and access to a car (or suitable alternative transport).

  • Demonstrated experience of fulfilling Service Transition functions of complex and challenging environments

Essential criteria
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge across the range of service transition processes and procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience.
  • Providing and receiving highly complex, highly sensitive or highly contentious information, where developed persuasive, motivational, negotiating, training, empathic or re-assurance skills are required. This may be because agreement or co-operation is required or because there are barriers to understanding.
  • Make judgements involving highly complex facts or situations, which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
  • Implements policies for own work area and proposes policy or service changes which impact beyond own area of activity.
  • Responsible as line manager for the service transition function, negotiating on difficult and controversial issues including performance and change
  • Demonstrated capabilities to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information, working to tight and often changing timescales
  • Planning and organisation of a broad range of complex activities or programmes, some of which are ongoing, which require the formulation and adjustment of plans or strategies.

NHS SCW offers agile and hybrid ways of working. Hybrid working is a type of flexible working where employees blend working from different locations. It offers the employee the ability to choose to work wherever and however they are most productive, whether it be in an office, at home, or a customer site.

Office location can be flexible within the NHS SCW estate and will be agreed upon offer of contract.

NHS SCW staff that are in posts considered to be agile will not be expected to attend office space for general working but will be required on occasions to attend face to face meetings and collaborative working sessions that may require travel to their home base or other locations across the estate or customer sites.
