The alternative provision school offers tailored educational support for children and young people who find mainstream education unsuitable for their needs. These schools provide a nurturing and flexible environment, addressing specific challenges such as behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties.

Additionally, these schools play a crucial role in preparing young people for a smooth transition and re-engagement back into mainstream schooling.

Key Responsibilities of SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement EHCP's
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with their emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support strategies.

About You:

  • Experience working as a SEND TA is essential – this role requires someone who understands the complexities and rewards of supporting students with additional needs.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude, with a willingness to adapt to the needs of the school and its pupils.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEND support are highly desirable.
