Support Worker - Experience Required (minimum 1 Year in Care Settings)

Location: Meldreth, Nr Royston, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border
Salary: £12.37 - £13.49 per hour (linked to competency and qualifications) PLUS £1500 Welcome bonus*

Annual Salary: £25,729.60 - £28,059.20 per year for a 40 hour week

Hours: 40 hours per week (part-time hours available, minimum 24hrs per week) - 8:00am - 21:00pm (12hrs with 2x 30 min unpaid breaks)

Training: Full training provided and once passed probation we will support and fund studying the Level 3 diploma in Health and Social Care

Rated CQC Outstanding, our partnership group are seeking compassionate and dedicated people to become Support Workers for our young people on a full or part time basis.

Set within 14 acres, our partnership team offers a supportive living and learning environment for young adults with severe and profound learning difficulties and complex health needs. With specialist facilities and a focus on promoting independence, we support each of our young people through the transition from education into adulthood.

The Role:

As a support worker you will be highly involved in personal care, this is supporting our young people with all aspects of personal hygiene including toileting, dressing and maintain their personal appearance.

As well as supporting with their medical needs you will also get involved in helping with the young adults therapies such as rebound therapy or hydrotherapy in our newly renovated pool. We also have sensory gardens, a skills centre, forestry school and rooms dedicated to art, music and much more.

Independence is prompted wherever is possible, the adults will often run their own days with what they like to do, so you could be helping make things in the sites enterprise scheme, going on shopping trips, taking part in forestry lessons or even going to the pub!

We are looking for candidates to demonstrate:

  • Willingness to learn and to go the extra mile
  • Minimum 1 year experience in care or applicable settings.
  • Ability to guide and encourage supportive independence when possible
  • Exceptional communication skills and patience
  • Resilient with a robust and positive nature
  • Ability to be creative in meeting the needs of the young adults.
  • Ability to work on a rota pattern which will include working every other weekend
