Flexible working, part-time hours and job share applications will be considered. We are an integrated team of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and assistants provided by an Outstanding Trust and committed to supporting children and young people with communication needs across East Sussex.

We have a full-time Band 5 speech and language therapy post available, based in the Hastings area. We’re looking for a therapist who is passionate about improving outcomes for children with speech, language and communication needs in the community.

We can offer a range of clinical experiences so that you can explore and develop as a clinician at your pace.

Main duties of the job

Work within an integrated children’s therapy team including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and administrators for children aged 0-19. Provide assessment, review and therapy interventions for children with speech, language and communication needs in line with developing competencies

Job summary: The post-holder will work in a community setting in close partnership with parents/ carers, schools, nurseries and SEND partners to deliver therapy programmes and provide advice. The post-holder will support the delivery of speech and language provision as outlined in children’s Education, Health and Care Plans.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Healthcare Professional with relevant Professional body (1st Level Nurse/ NMC or Physiotherapist; Occupational Therapist; etc / HCPC) Degree in a health relevant subject or willingness to complete a degree (within 3 years of appointment)
Desirable criteria
  • Mentoring qualification equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of recent community/acute healthcare gained through education or work experience placement or previous employment

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) Ability to organise own work Ability to cope with change Ability to use own initiative

  • Ability to motivate and organise others to ensure best practice. Ability to work under pressure Flexible and adaptable

  • Able to support the implementation of local and national agenda’s for health under the guidance of the team lead / ward manager. Ability to prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures.
