An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and professional Registered Adult Nurse to join our Adult Safeguarding team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain new skills, knowledge and learning in a specialised and interesting area of practice.The post holder will report to the senior adult safeguarding nurses. The post holder will provide a service across all sites and CMGs of the Trust. The post is full time Monday – Friday, and the successful candidate will need to work flexibly on occasions.
Applicants wishing to apply for this post must be a Level One Registered Nurse – Adults, with extensive and significant post registration experience caring for adults with complex needs in an acute healthcare setting. Evidence of a genuine interest in adult safeguarding and professional development is essential.

Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to demonstrate that you can manage sensitive and highly emotional situations with integrity and professionalism. You will be able to demonstrate that you can work effectively across all disciplines and services, and be able to approach challenging circumstances in a measured and non-judgmental manner.You will be expected to participate in multidisciplinary and multiagency meetings, and be able to maintain thorough and detailed safeguarding records. You will have an awareness of the legislative and best practice frameworks that underpin the safeguarding agenda, including domestic abuse, MCA and DoLS.
The primary focus of the role will be to support the effective delivery of the adult safeguarding service. You must have the ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously, and be able to manage your own workload. You must be committed to advocating for the rights of vulnerable people and act as a professional role model at all times.You must be willing and able to professionally challenge practice and to support the investigation of adult safeguarding enquiries. You must be able to attend and participate in multidisciplinary and multiagency meetings. You must be willing and able to deliver teaching and education opportunities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- To be a visible and accessible figure that staff, patients and carers can approach for assistance, support, advice and action regarding safeguarding adults, with oversight from the senior Adult Safeguarding Nurses.
- To assist Trust staff with day-to-day safeguarding adult issues, with support and oversight of the Adult Safeguarding Specialist Nurses.
- Contribute to the delivery of educational / training opportunities.
- To ensure Trust and local SAB guidelines and protocols are adhered to when safeguarding concerns are raised.
- To participate in responding to internal adult safeguarding incidents with support and oversight of the Adult Safeguarding Specialist Nurses.
- Ensure that safeguarding records and reports are completed fully and accurately.
- To act as a link with multi-agencies to support Trust staff in communication, including attendance at multi agency meetings.
- Communicate highly sensitive and complex information across a range of people, including patients, families and agencies.
- Act as an advocate for adults at risk of abuse / harm by raising awareness of their needs and actively promoting the philosophy that the best interests of vulnerable people are paramount.
- Provide specialised safeguarding advice concerning the care or treatment of adults at risk of abuse, harm and neglect including protection plans and complex risk assessments.
- Attend and participate in MDT and Multiagency meetings as required as a representative of the safeguarding team.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Registered Level One nurse
- Post registration qualifications
Experience
Essential criteria- Significant and extensive post reg experience in a acute hospital setting
- Working with adults who have complex needs
- Knowledge of emergency or specialist medicine
- Working knowledge of Mental Capacity Act and DoLS
Skills
Essential criteria- Demonstrate ability to maintain a measured and non-judgmental manner
- Demonstrate ability to support staff and provide formal and informal teaching
- Demonstrate ability to participate in multidisciplinary and multiagency meetings
- Demonstrate ability to work in an office environment using own initiative and as part of a team
- Safeguarding or complex discharge planning experience

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.
The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
