We are looking for adynamic,motivatedand talented Assistant General Manager to join the Haematology serviceat UCLH.

The successful candidate will have strong operational management experience and will be expected to provide operational leadership for their department. Candidates should have experience of working closely with multidisciplinary teams, leading service developments, data management and staff management.

We are looking for a leader who candemonstrateeffective communication skills, team working, excellentproblem solvingabilities and strong valuesbased in line with the UCLH Trust values.

UCLH is one of the largest and busiest haematology units in Europe with >100 dedicated inpatient beds in a purpose-built building which opened in 2022 (the Grafton Way Building).

The clinical team comprisesof >40 haematology registrars-in-training/senior clinical fellows, >70 haematology consultants and a large team of clinical nurse specialists, advanced nurse practitioners and specialist ward nurses. The serviceprovidedcovers the entire range of malignant,non-malignantand experimental haematology including phase 1 clinical trials, CAR T-cell therapy, bone marrow transplantation, TTP, haemoglobinopathies, bleeding and thrombotic disorders, leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, teenage and young adults, andstate-of-the-artdiagnostics.

Clinical services are supported by a team of over 40 administrative and management staff who help us to deliver work class care.
  • The post holder willbe responsible forensuring that services are efficiently and effectively run within the Cancer Division. This will be achieved through excellent human resource, financial and performance management, and leadership of change management to achieve improvement in process andpatient outcomes.
  • The post holder will also take the lead on specific service development issues. The post holder will also be operationally responsible for designated areas of the Cancer Division including direct management responsibility for staff and direct budgetary control.
  • The post holder willbe responsible formeeting both the Cancer Division’sobjectivesand the strategic corporateobjectivesof the organisation and will provide leadership and management support to staff within their areas of management. The role will also focus on the development and implementation of projects working within tighttime scales whenrequired.
  • The Assistant General Manager will deputise, whereappropriate forthe General Manager in their absence.
