St Edward’s College is a thriving 11–18 school, educating over 1,200 pupils, including a large and successful Sixth Form of over 300. As the Choir School to Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, St Edward’s provides a unique and inspiring environment where academic excellence, pastoral care, and a rich co-curricular programme flourish.

The College is part of the Edmund Rice Trust Family of Schools and is preparing to join the Laetare Multi-Academy Trust in March 2025.

The Role

As Deputy Principal (Academic), you will:

  • Lead Academic Excellence: Drive innovation and oversee the academic provision, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, and pupil outcomes.
  • Inspire and Develop Staff: Provide high-quality CPD opportunities, performance management, and quality assurance to support continuous improvement.
  • Promote Inclusivity: Ensure the curriculum meets the needs of all pupils, particularly those from vulnerable groups, and remains at the forefront of educational best practice.
  • Strengthen Community Links: Foster strong partnerships with parents and guardians through key academic events and communications.
  • Champion Catholic Values: Uphold and promote the College’s Catholic ethos, both within the school and the wider community.
  • Support Leadership: Deputise for the Principal when required, contributing to the strategic vision and operational success of the College.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for Heads of Faculty and academic staff, ensuring a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Monitor and analyse pupil progress and outcomes, leading targeted interventions to maximise attainment.
  • Oversee curriculum development, ensuring it is broad, inclusive, and responsive to pupil needs.
  • Lead key academic events, including revision evenings and open days, to engage and inform families.
  • Ensure that the Catholic ethos of the College is reflected in all aspects of academic and pastoral life.
  • Support the Principal in implementing the school’s strategic vision and policies.

Remuneration & Benefits
  • Salary Range: L22 – L26.
  • Catholic staff wishing to have their children educated at the College (subject to places being available and the children satisfying the normal entry criteria) enjoy a measure of precedence in the College admissions code.
