An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join the adult acute inpatient teams, based at Laureate house Wythenshawe hospital in south Manchester. This is a permanent contract and will be working as a therapists in a well established team.

The job holder will be responsible for managing a daily caseload of clients with acute / complex mental health and rehabilitation needs. You will complete a range of assessments and treatment plans to contribute to the discharge planning process based on your professional knowledge.

This will be under the guidance of a Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist You will also contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the service within the in-patient unit. For newly qualified staff there is a preceptorship pathway and for staff looking to increase their knowledge of mental health there is access to an extensive training and education offer.

You will be part of the Occupational Therapy Team which comprises of lead Occupational Therapist, Senior Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapist assistant and support time and recovery workers.
  • To utilise Occupational Therapy specific knowledge to provide the professional contribution within a designated ward
  • Creatively identify and support the development and delivery of both therapeutic individual and group interventions to facilitate recovery. The aim of interventions is to achieve service users’ goals in all areas of occupation to optimise levels of independence and working towards community living
  • To have a flexible approach to working hours to ensure that the needs of their clients are met.
  • To work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users’ and their carers
  • The post holder maybe required to rotate to a different clinical area within the area dependent upon the needs of the service
  • The post holder will abide by the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and Standards for Practice
  • To maintain standards for continuing registration with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
