A bit about me:
I am a 12 year old girl who loves having fun. I am chatty and use my AAC device to communicate, I can also use Makaton. I am able to make my needs and wants known, but it can still take a little time to understand things. I have a chromosome disorder, a learning disability and I am autistic with sensory processing needs.
I dislike sudden loud noises and unpredictable situations. I enjoy drawing and painting and other arts and crafts. I like books, using my tablet and watching TV. I also enjoy listening to music and making up stories. Sometimes I like to go out for walks in my wheelchair to visit the library and look around the shops; as long as they are not too crowded or busy.

I love having company and I have a great sense of humour. I also have some medical needs which means that my health can fluctuate.

About the role:
The post will mainly be spent engaging with me in the family home. This will include doing arts and craft activities, singing songs and playing and chatting. The role will also involve personal care therefore it is requested that the applicant is Female.
For this reason it is exempt under the general occupational requirement section of the Equality Act 2010. Once you know me there may be opportunities to take me out and about. For this reasons, additional training will be required and arranged.

(Related to gastrostomy feeds and First Aid).

The kind of person I am looking for:

You will be gentle and calm. You will also like to have fun and enjoy singing songs. I want someone who doesn’t mind being a bit silly sometimes. I also need someone who is sensitive to understand when I need things calmer and quieter. Experience of working with children who are autistic, have a learning disability and medical/sensory needs who be advantageous but not essential.
